Hola from Valencia

We couldn't of asked for a better journey yesterday.  Up at 4am, which I vowed we would never do again, but had too! so up and on.  Taxi to the airport, through baggage drop and customs in 20 minutes... what! never know before.  Then to the cafe for breakfast and strong coffee.

The flight left on time and landed into sunshine.  What can I say, we walked across the tarmac in sunshine.... bliss.

The taxi was waiting and took us to meet up with Angel at Friendly Rentals. Thankfully his English was superb and before long we dropped off our suitcases at the apartment, and headed out for some lunch.  The flat wasn't ready until three, so we wandered around, and amazed ourselves at the fabulous location we had chosen.

The apartment wasn't quite what I expected.  It's amazing what wide angled lens and proper positioning can do.  But hey, it's just fine and I think we will be very comfortable here.

The 5th January is the Epiphany, and the day of the Los Reyes, The Three Kings.  Today has lots of excitement for Spanish children, as it is the day when they get all their presents.  Also it's Fiesta Day, and we walked out at 7pm to see the Cabalgata or parade.  It's like Fleet Carnival, but twenty times as big.  And, totally deafening to a chorus of thousands of over excited children twittering like birds.   So lovely.  We couldn't get anywhere near to the parade, but could see floats bouncing by.

We wandered a long way back to our barrio, found a small tapas bar, ate tapas and drank red wine before getting back home and collapsing into bed, knackered.

It's lovely to be back in Valencia.  Today is a bank holiday, so families are out wandering around. Many shops and buildings are closed today, but it means the streets are open for wandering.  We must have spent about six hours wandering around and reacquainting ourselves with the old part of the city.

Sorry about this, but here was the blue sky at two today, I wore my padded jacket but had to take it off at one point as it was so warm!

We are back home now with a glass of wine and trying to stay awake and go out for tapas at 9pm.  Hope there is somewhere open nearby.

Hasta Luego, and I will be back....................
