Yvonne and Roger

Yvonne and Roger came to visit for a long weekend and we did loads of things like the Basilica, Cathedral, small museums and the Ceramics Museum.

In between we ate Tapas and on Saturday night went out for a lovely meal at a restaurant called Blanqueries, just around the corner from here. All the restaurants that we have been too over here have been fab, from a tiny ones that was like someone's front room, to Blanqueries above, which we found on the web and was highly recommended.  We were expecting it to be expensive, until the waiter gave us two cartas del noche, one at 28E and the 20E, which he recommended as thought the first one was too much food!!!!  Also we had a lovely bottle of wine for 9E.  That wouldn't pay for mineral water in the UK.

Anyway, on Sunday morning we walked in to square and yes there was more dancing, but R&Y got to see some.  These girls looked beautiful, all dressed, and still being girls and showing off.  Great.

The thing to do here on a Sunday morning is to have Churros (long fried donuts) and Chocolate, or Horchata and Fartons (tiger nut milk and sticks of pastry with icing sugar).  Yvonne asked for Churros and Horchata.  The waiter looked at her as if she was stark raving mad..... zeez Inglish!! but that's what the lady wanted.  Anyway I had Fartons and coffee.  It's a lovely Horchateria with gorgeous tiles all over the walls.

Us outside the mad Ceramics museum.

Roger looking a little bemused!

We climbed to the top of the Torres de Serrans

The Basilica looks huge from the outside, but in a fairly small church, with big frescos.

Amazing ceiling

It was built to house the Virgen de Desamparados (desperate people), which is brought out at Easter and paraded around the square.  That's her at the top.

The embroidered house - well it looks like it

Bye Bye Yvonne and Roger, it was great having you here.
